Haydn’s The Creation

Featuring Elmer Iseler Singers and TBS Chorus | Lydia Adams conducting 
Glorious sounds await you as two great choirs merge to present Joseph Haydn’s masterpiece, The Creation. Considered one of his most brilliant works, the oratorio depicts the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis. Combining beautiful vocal writing with his mature classical symphony style, Haydn created the most magnificent oratorio of his time.
Lydia Adams and the Elmer Iseler Singers celebrate their 40th Anniversary with a tour of Ontario, and by joining with the Thunder Bay Symphony Chorus in this spectacular concert.

The Rolston String Quartet In Concert – Consortium Aurora Borealis Concert!

CONSORTIUM AURORA BOREALIS CONCERT SEPTEMBER 28, 2019
Consortium Aurora Borealis is thrilled to present the Rolston String Quartet in concert! This award-winning ensemble, consisting of violinists Luri Lee and Emily Kruspe, violist Hezekiah Leung, and cellist Jonathan Lo, will deliver an exhilarating performance of three of the repertoire’s most exquisite works, by Haydn, Debussy and Beethoven. They were named among CBC Radio’s “30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30” in 2016. Their tours throughout North America and Europe have earned them great acclaim. Sporting “spirit, polish and sophistication”, this group displays “a maturity and cohesion rivalling the best string quartets in the world.” This is a Consortium season highlight, not to be missed!

The Mellifluous Cello – Consortium Aurora Borealis Opening Concert!

CONSORTIUM AURORA BOREALIS OPENING CONCERT: SEPTEMBER 14, 2019
Consortium Aurora Borealis opens its 41st concert season with “The Mellifluous Cello”, a delightful programme of lyrical as well as flashy works. Cellist Peter Cosbey, who has enthralled Consortium audiences on several occasions, is joined by pianist Mariko Kamachi-Cosbey. The music, from the Classic, Romantic, and Impressionist periods, includes cello sonatas by Schubert, Mendelssohn and Debussy, as well as shorter showpieces which display the amazing capabilities of the instrument.

Silver Sound Concert

The Silver Sound Choir have been working hard to put on this fabulous Spring Concert. We are 53 members strong and I am so proud of every one of them. We also invited Vibe Music Performance Academy directed by Kathleen Moore to be our special guests. Mark your calendars, you do not want to miss this musical event!

40th Anniversary Concert

Please join us for our 40th Anniversary Concert, the Season Finale! Violinist JEREMY BELL returns to lead Consortium’s fine string ensemble and harpsichord in magnificent music from the Baroque era, including Concerti Grossi by Geminiani and Wassenaer, a Vivaldi cello concerto performed by PETER COSBEY (the De Beers commercial “A Diamond is Forever” theme) and the Premiere of TBSO violist/composer PATRICK HORN's ‘La Folia’, commissioned by Consortium. A Reception follows for all and 41st Season Passes will be on sale with orders and renewals being taken at the back of the church. A concert not to be missed!
Patrick Horn will deliver the pre-concert talk at 7:30 p.m.

Consortium Auorra Borealis Concert – Vivaldi and Venice

Vivaldi and Venice
Consortium Aurora Borealis presents “Vivaldi and Venice”, its annual Baroque concert with an Italian theme! Celebrate all things Venetian with vibrant concerti by the “Red Priest”, returning to Consortium’s tradition of an all-Vivaldi programme. Back by popular demand! Soloists are oboist Colleen Kennedy, bassoonist Iraj Tamadon-Nejad, and cellist Peter Cosbey, with string ensemble and Consortium’s new harpsichord. The concert will be preceded by a stunning slide show of Venice in place of a pre-concert talk, with the Artistic Director’s favourite photos.

CONSORTIUM AURORA BOREALIS CONCERT SEPTEMBER 29, 2018
Consortium Aurora Borealis is thrilled to present “The Glorious Gryphon”, a concert by Toronto’s renowned Gryphon Trio. Noted for its “highly-refined, dynamic performances” and “superb interpretations”, this award-winning ensemble tours, concertizes, and records extensively, and enjoys an impressive international reputation.  Jamie Parker (piano), Annalee Patipatanakoon (violin) and Roman Borys (cello) will perform an early Beethoven Trio, Mendelssohn’s stirring C minor Trio, and a Canadian work commissioned to celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary season.  It has been “long regarded as one of the finest chamber music ensembles in the world”. This is a Consortium season highlight, not to be missed!
