April Fools’ Day Bike Round-Up and Outdoor Concert

LU Grounds 955 Oliver Rd, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada

Africa Matters will be hosting an April Fools’ Day Bike Round-up and Outdoor Concert on April 1st between 11am-4pm near Lake Tamblyn. This event is in support of Bikes for Humanity (B4H) Thunder Bay. B4H is a dedicated group of local volunteers who collect and restore used bicycles so that they can be sent to various countries in Africa to be used as pivotal means of transportation. The organization is in need of bicycles, as well as, funds to pay for shipment containers.
The events on April 1st will include a free outdoor concert by a number of local musicians, a by-donation -BBQ and bike tune-up workshops. In addition, students will have an opportunity to enter a contest to throw a whipping cream pie in the faces of some prominent Lakehead University figures, including former and incoming LUSU Presidents!
Come out rain, shine or snow to support this meaningful cause and hear some great music!!

Music and Movies and Food, OH MY!

LU Grounds 955 Oliver Rd, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada

FREE SHOW + FREE FOOD!!
Saturday, September 2nd is going to be the biggest party we have ever had! It’s taking place in the field beside our station @ 707 Oliver Rd. For those of you familiar with the University, it’s taking place in front of the Bora Laskin building. It starts at about 5pm and we’re going to have music, movies and food!
We’re having a free, yes, I did indeed say FREE, BBQ so you can come and get yourself some dinner to start your night. Then, play some games (and win prizes) with our very own Rick Three, he’s very entertaining, so make sure you come out and see what kind of shenanigans he gets up to! There will also be vendors selling their wares so make sure to bring a little bit of moolah with you! You may also want to bring money to buy swag from the local bands performing. In fact, the performers for the day, in order of appearance are:
Outside The Lines
Everything In Truth
Bitter Morning
Solomon
Andrew J. Edwards
The Wayback
Jordana Divinorum
Wax Philosophic
Sueisfine
Consider this, CILU’s way of introducing you to the local music scene! After all the music is done, we’re going to bring you more music and a movie as well!! That’s right, we are bringing you Dark Side of Oz, a synched up version of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon and The Wizard of Oz. Yes, the stories are true and you will love every second of it! So, bring a lawn chair, bring a blanket bring a sweater and bring your friends! It’s going to be one hell of a great night!!
M.C. for the event will be none other than Dancin’ D.J. Tommy Gunn, host of CILU’s ‘Rock And Roll Slaughterhouse’! So you know that even the ‘down time’ is going to be entertaining. Make sure you get lots of sleep Friday night, you’ll need your rest!
