AKA V

Espresso Joya 8 Cumberland St S, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada

$10 at the Door
With a beautiful and catchy song portrayal of what life is like growing up and pursuing one’s dreams, Canadian singer- songwriter Aka V is embarking upon a bright future as a musician.
With a songwriting style that reminds of brilliant female artists such as Sheryl Crow or Shania Twain and a vocal interpretation which hints on Gwen Stefani, Aka V has all the right ingredients for a promising start in the industry.
Her single ‘Always Go Home’ is an autobiographical account of a young woman leaving her home and aiming for the big city to realise her ambitions of becoming a musician.
The song was inspired by her own story of leaving home and aiming
to fulfil her goals. She says: “This world can be very cruel and the entertainment industry is not for everybody. I wanted to tell those people that there is no shame in going back home, whatever your home is, wherever it is. Go back to that safe place, there is no need to become somebody you wouldn’t be proud of because you’re too scared to face the fact that this one dream didn’t work out.”

ROGER ROGER
Roger Roger is truly a family affair. Twin siblings Lucas and Madeleine Roger are both singer-songwriters who have joined forces, each playing guitar and shamelessly harmonizing all over each other's songs. The offspring of producer/engineer/musician Lloyd Peterson (who co-produced Roger Roger’s recent debut album Fairweather), the twins have a knack for songwriting that must have something to do with growing up in a recording studio. They each bring their expansive creativity to the project and wholeheartedly embrace their differences, fusing Madeleine's magnetic sweetness alongside Lucas' unruly charm.
Their new album "Fairweather" has been receiving praise across the country, and reached the No. 1 spot on the National folk/roots/blues charts. It is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, and all major digital services. If you like physical objects you can order a CD from their website, or better yet, you can pick up a copy at the show.
"These two harmonize together as if that is the very thing they were born to do...The show was unstoppable!"

LOGAN MCKILLOP
Growing up on the edge of Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba, Canada, Logan McKillop has a multitude of songs for every change in the prairie sky. Being a modern day traveling troubadour, he has seen it all; from the jungles of Cambodia, the rainforests of Peru, the highlands of Scotland, to the rugged tundra of Baffin Island, Logan's travels and experiences have shaped his ever-expanding catalogue of sound. With an eclectic blend of influences from raw folk, smooth jazz, energy fueled bluegrass to lonesome country, Logan McKillop will appeal to audiences’ young and old. With a tune for every occasion, whether it’s a whiskey soaked Saturday night or a quiet Sunday afternoon, his honesty in storytelling will leave you captivated. His debut album titled “Prairie Sky" was released in March, 2013.
"If you want to know what contemporary Canadian Prairie roots music sounds like, you couldn’t get too far off the mark by listening to this disc."
