The Jack Stafford Foundation
May 12, 2010 @ 5:00 pm
TBAJack Stafford will play over 200 shows this year including every country in Europe. Plus a 16-week, 75 date tour of the US and Canada. He gave up his apartment in September last year and is now permanently on tour
“I lived in Amsterdam for the last 8 years,†explained Stafford. “And still have a shop there that sells the zip-suits that I used to design but I was happiest when on tour so now that’s all I do.â€
When asked how long he intends to keep touring for her says “as long as I’m still enjoying it. It is a wonderful life, meeting so many characters and seeing so many places. Traveling gives me wings and ideas and there is nothing else like it.â€
Stafford is a solo act in every sense, booking all the shows himself, as well as releasing one song a month even while touring. The embodiment of the new music business where touring and building a fanbase is the only way to go.
Stafford’s musical style is sardonic, distinctly English, and similar in spirit to artists like Ray Davies and Elvis Costello. He has been called a “European Bob Dylan†with lyrical and satirical songs about hating your job, unemployment, hating Woody Allen, Ikea and wind farms. He has supported Supergrass, The Veils, The Rakes, I am Kloot and many more …

PLATO, the Netherlands
“What I think of the CD? I get up on the wrong side of the bed, cut my cheek shaving, spill hot coffee on my freshly ironed shirt, discover heavily frosted car windows: to end up in a 17 km traffic jam. I put on Long Live Love by The Jack Stafford Foundation and suddenly I love all the other drivers around me. Love and Peace to all!’’
Musicfrom, the Netherlands
“Long Live Love is a great record…we are curious what the JSF will treat us with in the future’’
Oor, the Netherlands

Het Muziekcafe, the Netherlands
“A very intricate production that surprises out of pure beauty… country and folk are never far away whilst pop is master. There is even a hit on the album: The World is Wonderful.’’
POP INSTITUUT, the Netherlands
“Long Live Love is a tribute to the love. Jack sings love songs with a folk-like dressing and we can even hear some country influences here and there. Harps, banjos and church organs; that’s what The Jack Stafford Foundation peppered with tongue-in-cheek humor. A surprise that is far from unpleasant.’’
