The Creative Featured Artist Music Series with James Boraski
October 13, 2017 @ 6:30 pm
$20 – $30Don’t let the “Friday the 13th” superstition scare you away from this great ‘kick-off” music event for our Featured Artist Music Series… in fact, let’s celebrate it!!
Join us at The Creative Art Gallery on Algoma where we feature the very best in creativity across the entire Arts spectrum – Visual, Literary & Performing Arts. We are pleased and proud to present one of Thunder Bay’s most prolific performers, guitarists and singer/songwriters – James Boraski.
James represented the Thunder Bay Blues Society as a 2-Time Memphis International Blues Challenge Competitor (Best Self-Produced CD Category in 2014; and in the Solo/Duo Category in 2015), and he was also Inducted into the American Heritage Blues Hall of Fame as a Master Blues Aritst as a Songwriter, and also as a Musician along with his band, James Boraski & MomentaryEvolution in February of 2015.
To date, James has released two albums to critical acclaim – 2009’s “NVR2L8” (Never Too Late) which was a featured album at Canada’s Northern House at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver; and 2013’s “Comin’ Home” which charted as high as #6 in Roots & Rock Blues Categories, and it landed in several Top 10 / Top 20 Charts for Album of the Year in 2013. Both of these albums received national and international attention and airplay, and “Comin’ Home” received award nominations for International Release of the Year by Blues 411 in the USA, and by Wasser-Prawda Arts & Culture Magazine in Germany.
More recently, James and his band – James Boraski & MomentaryEvolution – have opened the Thunder Bay Blues Festival in both 2014 and 2016; they have been perennial headline performers at Summer in the Parks / Live on the Waterfront. They have also performed at Live from the Rock in Red Rock; The Canadian Lakehead Exhibition; Thunder Bay Rib Fest; and have been featured several times at Old Fort William Historical Park. James has also been writing and working on new material, perfecting it in hopes that he will be able to produce a third album in the coming months.
So come out and join us for an intimate, up close and personal evening of Original Roots, Ballads & Contemporary Blues Music as James tells us the back-stories behind many of his songs. He will be joined for the show by his good friend and great lead guitarist – Cale Wilson. If you close your eyes and listen to Cale’s captivating fills, riffs and solos, you will swear that Billy Gibbons (of ZZ Top) or JJ Cale or Brian Setzer (of Stray Cats) or Mark Knopfler (of Dire Straits) could be there accompanying James with his songs.
There are ONLY 30 SEATS AVAILABLE – Tickets are $20 Advance or $30 at the Door (only if any seats remain unsold – first come / first served) and the ticket price includes Refreshments, Dainties, Desserts & Treats during the intermission, as well as a special surprise gift from James.
You can get on the guest list by contacting Tracy Barry by telephone (807) 621-5310, or by visiting her and purchasing your tickets in person at The Creative Art Gallery (near the coner of Bay and Algoma) to arrange for email transfer or cash payment.
Alternatively, you are welcome to contact James Boraski directly by telephone at (807) 355-3996 to arrange cash or email transfer payments.
We hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear the stories; experience the music and ‘Meet the Artist’ by coming out and supporting this very rare and special musical evening.
