SLAM IT- Come on out to a unique evening of Slam Poetry/Music/Performance. What is Slam, but performative poetry and we welcome guest slammers to Thunder Bay a group called PLUG-there team is made up of five poets representing Peterborough, London and Guelph and are on tour to the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (CFSW) in Calgary-They perform separately as well as collaboratively. Though they each have their own personal style, the shows are consistently engaging, dynamic and performance-oriented. (ie This is not a writers’ reading – but a show!)
Using rhyme, rhythm, rants, and sound play, their poetry takes audiences through a range of emotions, from humour to sadness, from rage to playfulness. they cover a range of themes, but all of their poetry is infused with a commitment to a healthier world and to issues of social justice. If you are remotely interested in poetry, this is a must see…one night only and it’s gone. Also performing are the fabulous Tanya Elchuk, Douglas Livingston and more…soothing sounds by Gaelin Brown and disruptive harmonies/rants by Vov Abraxas, refreshments, art and multi-media projections.
