BIO – Somewhere in the frigid foothills of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, wedged between the colossal Rocky Mountains and thousands of miles of vast plains you’ll find a venue packed with bodies. An eager pulse vibrates every wall. The floor underneath trembles with anticipation. Wedged together shoulder to shoulder, fans of all ages are providing heat for each other while they await the oncoming storm.
Shark Infested Daughters is the eye of that storm that has been turning relentlessly since 2012, and shows no signs of stopping until everything before them is laid to waste. With their rigorous touring schedule and energizing live performances, the band has made a name for themselves as one of the top metal-core bands to watch in Western Canada. After two EP releases in 2013, and 2015, Shark Infested Daughters put all hands on deck and released their triumphant full-length debut album “These Tides, Our Tombs”. The attention they’ve received for their live show is nearly rivaled by their internet presence, with the lead single “Tidebringer” reaching a staggering 100k+ streams since the album’s release.
Shark Infested Daughters strives to breathe new life into a stagnant genre by taking a page from the first wave of American Heavy Metal and the Gothenburg sound. Taking queues from Killswitch Engage, I Killed the Prom Queen, Soilwork, and Dark Tranquility; Shark Infested Daughters are no stranger to a beautiful melody intertwined with a punishing riff, crushing bass, and syncopated kicks. Vocalist Chris Thoresen doesn’t let those moments pass by unfettered either, using every ounce of his being to convey their message: “You are not alone.” Dealing with death, suicide, and drug addiction from as early as the age of 14, Shark Infested Daughters pull lyrical content from their own experiences and personal demons. Painting a vivid picture of love, loss, and the darkest parts of human nature, Shark Infested Daughters offers an outlet to anyone struggling to cope with their own issues.
