Gustav Mahler famously claimed that his symphonies held the whole of life within them. His First Symphony, nicknamed “The Titan”, is no exception, moving from flowing rivers to joyous dances, hauntingly beautiful spells to breakneck sprints of terror. The ferociously talented members of the TBSO will bring it to life, as well as Shostakovich’s perennially popular Cello Concerto No. 2.  As a special opener, Music Director Paul Haas brings us Dream, a sublime, ear-bending piece that blends extreme beauty with sheer excitement.
