About Laugh Rebel
It was in the spring of 2009 that the name “Laugh Rebel” was conceived, but for singer songwriters Jennifer Plummer (vocals, guitar, percussion, & harmonica) and Jen Courchesne (vocals, bass, & guitar) their creative & performance partnership began 3 years before they had a name for it. Plummer began her musical path in London, Ont., continuing her private studies in Montreal, QC & Vancouver B.C. In 2003 she released her first 6 song EP “Universe & Solo” and opened for a variety of well known Canadian musicians including the Rheostatics, Spirit of the West, and King Cobb Steelie. In 2006 she relocated back to her home province of Ontario where she composed, co-produced and released “Recordings before Dawn” a 13 song CD of original music. “Sun will be Breaking”, off her sophomore album, was featured in an episode of the L.A. based T.V. show “MISSING” (episode 5:10). In the winter of 2006, Jen Courchesne a.k.a. Couchie and Jennifer Plummer met in North Bay, ON when Couchie was performing with a local band “Minus the Royals”. The creative connection was instant. Couchie joined “the Jen Plummer band” playing bass, and signing harmony. As a result of regular touring over the next 3 years in support of “Recordings before Dawn”, Jennifer and Couchie naturally began to write music together and established a new creative project called Laugh Rebel. The duo’s newly cultivated sound can be described as funky folk acoustic soul, with the use of guitars, harmonies, bass, percussion and harmonica. Laugh Rebel’s debut EP “Leave Again” is set to be released April 2010. Across Canada tour to promote the new album begins on April 15th 2010 with stops in over 30 cities across 9 Provinces.
