Hearing Trees is touring in support of the release of their long-anticipated full length album, “Quiet Dreams.” The group’s lush, layered brand of ambient and anxious rock is built atop a foundation inspired by R.E.M., Matthew Good, and The Tragically Hip and tinged with the more modern and atmospheric musings of Wintersleep and The National. Coupled with sometimes cryptic, always captivating poetry, Hearing Trees offers a masterclass in sweet-sounding catharsis.
Soapboxer
Soapboxer got its start in Justin’s basement over the summer of 2014, following the demise of Peter and Justin’s previous band. It was just Peter and Justin writing some songs in the basement, until they drafted Jhustin Czajkowski on guitar and Clinton Baverstock on bass. Things were starting to take shape.
About a year in, Soapboxer underwent a bit of a stylistic shift, moving away from punk rock overtones towards something more subdued and ambient. Following this genre shift, they started identifying more with shoegaze and dream-pop, rather than punk rock. It was just a lot easier to be relaxed all the time.
In September 2017, Soapboxer released their album “Lush”, marking their transition into dream-pop and indie. With Noah Connor joining the roster on bass, they have been playing a series of shows in support of the new album, and having a few laughs along the way. Life is good.
