CONSORTIUM AURORA BOREALIS CONCERT
BOCCHERINI: A NIGHT IN MADRID
Escape to Spain with Consortium Aurora Borealis in “A Night in Madrid”! Beat the chill and come out to hear an exhilarating fandango for guitar and strings with a concerto-like virtuoso cello part, quintets evoking street scenes of Madrid, and more. Colour, grace, and special effects will abound. The concert’s Spanish-inspired music was written by Haydn’s contemporary Luigi Boccherini, a classical era composer and virtuosic cellist who left Italy as a youth to work under royal patronage in Madrid. Performing are Joseph Roy, guitar; Thomas Cosbey and Iain McKay, violin; Mathilde Bernard, viola; Marc Palmquist and Sonya Nanos, cello.
Saturday, January 14, 2017, 8:00 p.m., St. Paul`s United Church, 349 Waverley Street, Thunder Bay. Informative pre-concert talk at 7:30 p.m. by Joseph Roy. The church is handicapped-accessible (elevator).
Admission: $15 adults and seniors, $10 students, at the door.
