Bridge Theatre/Artisan Flea Fair
August 14, 2009 @ 1:00 pm
FreeBridge Theatre/Artisan Flea Fair is a new and exciting youth project created by local musical group Finding Molly Bish. This project is part of a vision for a more vibrant and involved community, especially in the celebration of arts and heritage. This project is made possible through the United Way YouthScape program, which hopes to empower youth to create positive change in their community through various community based initiatives. Bridge Theatre/Artisan Flea Fair is just one of the many projects that are being created with the assistance of the YouthScape program.
The initial project, a type of “fundraising fringe banquetâ€, has grown and expanded to a greater theatrical, artistic, and music event through the collaboration of festival creator, Jake Vaillant, and festival co-organizer, Kevin Lees. The Bridge Theatre/Artistic Flea Fair, with the generous help of the YouthScape program, has grown into a unique carnival and market event.
This exciting event is set to take place on Friday August 14th, 2009 in beautiful Waverly Park. The event will run from 5pm until 10pm, and will feature live music and theatre, local art displays, fringe performers, concession for sale, as well as a flea market. An instrument petting zoo, various workshops, and other children’s activities will also be featured at the event.
The purpose of this event will be to encourage people from all backgrounds and experiences to share their knowledge and talents with each other through a variety of mediums. Admission to the event is free, and any ‘profit’ made through concession sales, vendor fees, etc. will be entirely contributed to the future production of community- based events. The organizers of this festival would like to thank the community for it’s ongoing support in the organization of this event.
Any artisans wishing to become involved in displays or sales of their products at the festival should contact Kevin Lees at kevdrl@hotmail.com.
