The Thunder Bay Blues Society (TBBS) board of directors is proud to announce the two headlining bands for the Blues Shakedown Saturday October 19, 2024 at the DaVinci Centre (340 Waterloo St South). The 2024 edition of Blues Shakedown will feature an all-Canadian blues line-up!

Headlining the evening at 9:30 pm will be multiple 2024 Blues Music Award and 2024 Maple Blues Award nominees the Blackburn Brothers. This dynamic six-piece band have performed at many of the largest blues festivals across North and Central America. Their latest album release SoulFunkin’Blues received a 2024 Juno nomination as well as three American 2024 Blues Music Award Nominations for Album of the Year, Soul Album of the Year and Song of the Year (a new precedent for a Canadian band). Blackburn Brothers also collectively received a record setting 9 nominations at the 2024 Canadian Maple Blues Awards, including Electric Act of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Thunder Bay blues fans may remember Blackburn Brothers from their appearance at the 2018 Thunder Bay Blues Festival, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring them back to Thunder Bay. 7:30 pm will feature 2024 Maple Blues Award winners for New Artist/Group of the Year the Little Magic Sam Band for their debut Thunder Bay performance! This 5-piece band has a sound deeply rooted in Memphis and Chicago blues and in 2023 released a six song EP of original Chicago blues titled Step Back, which is available on both CD and 180g blue vinyl. A multi-talented singer/songwriter with an enormous stage presence, Little Magic Sam is sure to garner many new blues fans here in Thunder Bay!
