Lakehead University Vocal Ensemble, directed by Susan Korstanje, presents Borealis, a concert of songs from northern lands. We’ll explore Canada’s “Northwest Passage” and travel across Canada, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia, to the Russian steppes of an earlier century. Highlights include Schafer’s weirdly mysterious “Epitaph for Moonlight;” Pärt’s plea for peace “Da pacem, Domine;” and Borodin’s energetic “Polovetsian Dances,” featuring Sean Kim at the piano.
