Folks in Thunder Bay are in for a rare treat as a pair of unusually gifted musicians from Finland come to town. Vocalist Jukka Pietila and award-winning organist Kalevi Kiviniemi will perform at St. Paul’s United Church on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.
They are here following a series of concerts in the U.S. – a tour that was set to celebrate and commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Finland’s most celebrated composer, Jean Sibelius. Audiences have described the pair’s musical collaboration as an unbelievably seamless effort that leaves one breathless on one hand, but also as something that has the ability to shake one to the core.
