Duck N Cover is at it again!
This time, we’ve teamed up with Illuminate to bring you an audio/visual experience that’s out of this world.
Headlining the show will be SCIENTISTS OF SOUND from Halifax/Toronto. Here’s some info about SOS:
SOS is a LIVE looping madness duo – all sounds are performed, recorded, and manipulated LIVE – take that DJs! Joking – we love DJs!
Dirty electro sounds in an improvisational original format that nobody else is doing… Live looping dance madness – in masks – and lab coats… This is the mantra for this Halifax based duo sometimes trio sometimes quattro looping madness unit… Play sound – record sound – manipulate sound until it doesn’t sound like the original sound – and do it all over well crafted original dance tracks and thumpin’ beats… That IS the stuff right there… This is Scientists of Sound…
Scientists of Sound create, record, and manipulate all the samples in their set LIVE and on the fly, making for a truly original and unique electronic performance that has been quickly gaining momentum and notoriety in the Canadian electronic music scene. Add in a synched video and light show, some costumed theatrics, instrument switches, and crowd chants that are sampled and used in the show – and you get one of the most memorable musical experiences around.
Scientists of Sound are producers Aaron Collier (keyboards, bass) and Craig Mercer (guitar, drums, vocals) – both former members of the Canadian rocktronica act The Jimmy Swift Band. They have shared the stage with MSTRKRFT, Kid Koala, Boys Noise, Thunderheist, and are quickly becoming one of Canada’s preeminent live electronica acts. Their debut full length album is slated for release in summer of 2012.
