About Lady o'Lakes Lady o'Lakes is a folk/country/honkytonky band based on "harmonies that could make you forget your own birthday". This 3 piece is made up of Jenny Berkel, Michelle Rose and Kristen Berkel who swing around the guitar, banjo, accordion and fiddle. The ladies brought along drummer Adam Hector for their tour across Canada from London, ON to Duncan, BC this past summer. The band began when Jenny brought Michelle (her bandmate in the phantasmagorial Manitoban band "the Wandering Goose") back home to London-towne to meet her sister, Kristen, with whom she'd been harmonizing since birth.

In a very short burst of sweat and hard work from about May - October 2009, the ladies managed to record a short EP, book a tour across the country, gain a dedicated fanship in Southwestern Ontario and along the Trans Canada, and sew matching outfits for their gigs. They also found themselves nominated for a London Music Award and a Jack Richardson Music Award! ... who knew.

Lady o'Lakes has been on hiatus since the fall in order to allow the ladies to pursue other projects... but stay tuned for Round 2: a soul-satisfying medley of poetry, art and song. In fact, this is what you need to do, straight away. Jenny and Michelle are going to be traveling eastwards this fall- Jenny, in celebration of her newly released EP, Gather Your Bones, and Michelle, in celebration of her newly published book of poetry, To Speak. She will also be supporting Jenny and tinkling around on the banjo.
